A Not-So-Quiet Night for Jessica Schultz

Jessica Schultz, whose singing style updates the vocal tradition of swinging jazz with Brazilian rhythms and eclectic arrangements, was recently “discovered” and interviewed by New York University professor Jason Stanyek. He plans to use her rendition of the Brazilian song “Corcovado” (known in English as “Quiet Nights”) in his new book on Brazilian music in the United States.

I’m sure he enjoyed hearing how she researches every word to make sure to understand, appreciate and properly interpret the message she conveys through her music.
