This heartspark Adventure was all about adding “serving homemade pasta from scratch” as a tool in our tool chest that contributes to truly memorable meals. The amazing Lucia Galizia – who shared her family recipe and taught us to make limoncello last year – invited us into her home to show us how.
Lucia was born and raised in Naples, Italy. Having lived in the U.S. for many years, she is a leader in Portland’s Italian American community. As the official host of Festa Italia and KBOO’s Italian Hour she knows a thing or two about Italian culture, history, food and life.
We started the evening with Italian wine and appetizers and then rolled up our sleeves as Lucia showed us how to make pasta from scratch. We mixed the dough, rolled it out, let it rest and cut it into fettuccine noodles as Lucia worked her magic in the kitchen. We enjoyed dinner al fresco (Caesar salad, bread, pasta, chicken Marsala, tiramisu for dessert and, of course, finished with home-made limoncello) and shared an evening with great company and interesting conversation – all the ingredients for a truly memorable meal. Mangiamo!
