Jeanne’s Story

The Ignition series transformed my life and my life’s work in such profound ways that I decided to incorporate it into my organization’s leadership program.

Every year, my organization sponsored 6-8 employees to take the series. That’s a very small investment for a major cultural change. I believe you don’t have to be a manager or supervisor in order to be an influential leader, so front-line union workers, administrative employees, supervisors and managers all had the option to apply for the privilege of participating. The investment paid big dividends.

Thanks to the Ignition series, adversarial labor vs. management perceptions disappeared and cross functional collaboration and sharing of resources was the new norm. In addition, a significant number of Ignition series “graduates” have since been promoted or have been selected to work on special projects due to their increased level of initiative, confidence and commitment to making a positive difference in the organization.

In fact, over half of the employees who completed the series joined together to create their own “alumni program” and meet on a monthly basis with the goal of influencing management and peers to create a collective passion for the important work they do.
